How is Android One? – Shifter

One Android is not a new operating system, but Google is a hardware and software program, presented in June last year, who wants to put an Android phone in the hand of every person in the world.

In some way, the Android One initiative completes the ambition of Internet.org connecting the world. If the latter will provide to remote populations a basic and free Internet service, the draft Sundar Pichai want to give them a terminal to take advantage of this service. But Android One is a more comprehensive idea.

It aims at also emerging markets where there is already net, but where they dominate conventional phones (yes, those with keys). Through this program, Google intends in partnership with mobile phone manufacturers to create low-cost equipment, but able to offer a good, basic experience of use.

Mobile phones developed under the One run Android system Android operating original, unmodified, so users always have the latest release for 2 years. To take charge of distributing updates, Google wants to avoid a problem of low cost mobile phones, which tend to stick with an older version of Android without any possibility of update, leaving users without access to new apps and services.

One Android is already present in 7 countries. It started in September last year in India with three manufacturers (the Micromax, Spice and Karbonn) to market mobile phones with 4.5-inch screen, 1GB of RAM, camera 5:02 megapixel (front and rear), 1 processor , 3 GHz, microSD card slot, FM radio and dual SIM support. At the software level, the Android One offers, in India, support for the Hindi language, local newspapers via Google Play Newsstand app and even a special version designed to save YouTube mobile data. The equipment cost less than 100 euros.

After India, Android One went to Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Earlier this month came to Europe, via Turkey.

In partnership with General Mobile, Google’s proposal to Turkey is a mobile phone with a Gorilla Glass 4 of 5 inch screen with a resolution almost HD , 2GB of RAM, 13:05 megapixel camera, Snapdragon 410 processor and support for 4G / LTE. It’s the best Android phone to date One – and also the most expensive:. 250 euros
