Android loses strength in Europe and the iOS advantage – TeK.sapo

The market for mobile operating systems has mostly stable condition, but each variation is an important indicator of consumer preference. The five largest European markets – the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and France – the mobile operating system from Google gained a 68.4% market share during the first three months of 2015.

The Android continues to reign by far, since Apple’s iOS is 20.3%. However the consultant Kantar figures show some significant variations.

They show that iOS grew 1.8% in market share compared to the same period 2014, while Android “shrunk” 3.1%. But the value that most stands out is possibly the almost 33% of new iPhone users who were “clients” of Android.

As for Windows Phone Kantar says it has gained little traction in the European market, except in France. In this country Microsoft’s mobile operating system reached a market share of 14.1%.

“It is clear that the Windows market share rose slightly in the US and five major EU markets,” can be read in the comment made by the consultant.

But Kantar leaves the door open to change now that it is confirmed that Windows 10 will allow easy import of Android and iOS applications.
