Google will allow greater control over permissions of applications … – TeK.sapo

This week came the first rumors about the next version of Android. Referred to as “M”, it is speculated to be detailed during the conference Google I /, but little else is known about what might bring again the operating system.

Bloomberg, however, seems to have got a briefing on the new Android. According to the agency, Google will refine the application permissions system so that users have more power to avoid situations of violation of privacy.

For example, the Criminal Case game, one of the most popular of the moment on Google Play before being installed asks permission for: shopping in the application; identity; photographs, and multimedia files; Wi-Fi connection information; and device ID and call information.

Although many users end up not ask the question, is the question: Does a game need so so many permissions? But this is just one example, and there are applications that require a much larger number of authorizations.

The aim of Google is reportedly allow users to decide on various permission groups: for example, let you have information on the Wi-Fi network in order to play online, but block access Photo gallery.

At a time when the smartphone market seems to stagnate in many countries begins to be important to introduce tools to keep users in the ecosystem. Just think for example that recently Google launched Android for Work program.

The results of the pressure that Android has suffered are now on view, with the market share shrunk three percentage points while the iOS and Windows Phone rivals gained some traction.
