Google will change the rules of updates to the Android M – Pplware

The Android M to be presented later this month at the conference I / O Google. Yet little is known about this new version of Android, but it is almost certain that the news will be focused on improving this system and make it more stable.

Something that begins to speak, and possibly will come with Android M, is a change in Google’s rules for providing updates for their equipment.

The deadlines will be extended and updates that come into being only deal with the resolution of security problems in Android.

To try to resolve the perennial problem of Android fragmentation Google has implemented rules that dictate that their devices have guaranteed at least 18 months of operating system upgrades and advise all brands that use Android to do the same.

This policy does not It has been followed and the latest example came with the arrival of the Lollipop. Few manufacturers have managed to offer this new version of Android for their equipment and most likely never will be made available.

But Google likes to lead by example and may be preparing to change their own rules by extending the support time and creating a new category of updates, security. These rules are unfortunately only guaranteed for the Google Nexus equipment.

The changes that are expected to arise with the arrival of Android will give M 2 years of guaranteed updates unlike the current 18 months, and come into being security updates, which will exist for 3 years after the start of marketing of devices.

An alternative measure will ensure that there will be security updates for 18 months after the device’s sale date for the Google Store / Play Store. It will apply to linger longer.

This change is about to happen with Android M, which should help off the Nexus 4 and eventually the Nexus 10. These devices went on sale in the Play Store in 2014 and therefore are already out of the scheduled updates.

There is also the question whether the Nexus 7, 2012, that It is in the same category the previous equipment, but that Google will also drop. The use of this equipment Lollipop was a bet of Google, but that should not be running as intended.

But even getting out the possibility of installing Android M these devices will continue to receive updates security, because they are still within the period of “guarantee” of three years.

The security updates and new versions of Android is one of the reasons why consumers prefer the Android and the Google knows harness it to your advantage.

This is a change of rules that has benefit users of Nexus devices, but that Google would like to see extended to all brands that use the Android based operating system.
