Lack of Android updates take Samsung to court – Pplware

The eternal war between users and Android smartphone makers about updates usually leans to the side of the latter, leaving outdated equipment and exposed to problems.

Although it is almost a must, many brands choose to ignore this issue and let users abandoned. Samsung, one of the biggest brands in the Android world, will now have to answer in court, precisely by not releasing updates to its smartphones.

Being the biggest Android manufacturer is expected to provide Samsung users and equipment that it sells the latest Google operating system updates while maintaining this equipment protected against security breaches and against the problems that arise.

This process is taking place in a Dutch court and was moved by the Dutch Consumer Group against Samsung. At issue is the charge of this group to Samsung for not having been able to provide enough information about software updates, security vulnerabilities or own updates.

According to a study by the Dutch Consumer Group, the Netherlands 82% of Samsung devices evaluated did not have the latest version of Android that was launched during the two years after purchase, something the brand has committed to do. It was still early when that does not comply with this rule, these devices were exposed to problems and other failures.
