Ford announced that Android Auto will be released in autumn 2017 on all models equipped with its Sync 3 infotainment system. The Escape 2017 will be the first model to come with the system (like most automakers, Ford will begin selling their models in 2017 earlier this year). The system must also have support CarPlay Apple.
Ford was one of the first car manufacturers to sign up to use the Android Auto, but she did not give many details about its implementation than to say that it would be integrated with its own Sync infotainment system. Ford also said that Android Auto will also be available as an update for 2016 models at the end of the year
Below we can see the official release of the company:.
“In North America , Ford is making Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available in all 2017 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3, starting with the new Ford Escape. Vehicle owners equipped with SYNC 3, 2016 will have an opportunity to update their cars at the end of the year [...]
Android 5.0 device users and above can bring your smartphone experience into your vehicle safely and easily. They get appropriate information, including Google Maps, Google Play Music and other applications are designed on the SYNC screen, offering seamless integration of the smartphone in the car. The search Google by voice answers any questions that customers may have also while on the road. “
After a slow start, the Android Auto seems to be gaining pace and starting a slow domain market, before Hyundai was the first automaker to offer you the exclusivity now everything seems to accelerate, with cars of Chevy brand, Buick and GMC, Honda and Volkswagen. A priori only Porsche seems to reject the Google software.
Ford also launched last year a Android Wear app to find and control their electric and hybrid cars.
