The system, revealed before the official start of CES 2017, in Las Vegas keeps the interface of the UConnect and integrates various Google applications, such as the Assistant and the Maps, on top of Android. It will be demonstrated in a Chrysler sedan 300 during the event, which starts on Thursday after two days of initiatives facing the media.
"This collaboration with Google has been an opportunity very beneficial for the two companies to explore how technology infotainment and connectivity are evolving, and what is needed to give response to the increasing desire of consumers for innovation with minimal distraction," said Chris Barman, director of electrical engineering of Fiat Chrysler, in a press release from the manufacturer. "With Android, we were able to maintain our unique interface, and intuitive, Uconnect, integrating the new system easy to use with the ecosystem of applications and features of Android."
in Addition to the apps of Google, the system also integrates with popular applications such as Pandora, Spotify, NPR One, and Pocket Casts.
"Google is committed to the design of Android as a platform car deeply integrated with the vehicle in a safe and easy way," adds Patrick Brady, director of engineering of Android at Google. "This collaboration with the FCA joins the industry standard for car systems connected with Android to create systems that are powerful, designed for the digital age."
The working set expands a partnership announced in may of last year, in which the two companies began the collaboration in cars autonomous. At the time, Google indicated that it would integrate the hardware and software of cars autonomous in 100 Fiat Chrysler Pacifica.
