According to Ars Technica the, researchers discovered a type of adware notice on the Android operating system that is virtually impossible to uninstall. This adware exposes the smartphone to potential root exploits and masks is one of thousands of different applications such as Twitter and Facebook.
The same researchers found more than 20,000 examples of applications ‘trajonizadas’ that replicate the code and other features of applications available on Google Play. From the user’s point of view, the modified applications resemble legitimate apps.
Still, the application uses powerful exploits to gain root access to the Android operating system. These exploits allow applications ‘trajonizadas’ settling-in system applications, a very high privilege that is usually reserved for system processes.
