3000 Android apps contain malware DressCode – PCGuia

A team of researchers from Trend Micro discovered that 3000 applications for Android mobile devices, 400 of which are available in the Google Play store are infected with malware DressCode.
The code of this malware contains a component designed to establish a SOCKS proxy on the mobile device.

According to the news site Softpedia, the cyber crooks may use this proxy if the owner of the smartphone is in your workplace, to access the Wi-Fi network of the company and, after discovered the vulnerabilities, attacking the servers and other devices that are usually protected by a firewall. Once the traffic is channeled through the SOCKS proxy, the firewall considers that it is of the usual Web browsing.

This malware can also be used for DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial of Service).
