Microsoft: Cortana already runs on Android – Computer Examination – Exam Information

The system is still in beta and is only accessible by invitation, in the US or China. Microsoft asks that interested user has a recent Android device and registered in Windows Insider.

Since the company wants to promote similar experiences across multiple platforms, the commitment to Cortana for Android and iOS makes sense . Users who experience the personal assistant on your computers with Windows 10 will want to have the same experience on your phone, even if not Windows Phone.

ArsTechnica has experienced the Cortana to Android and reports that the user experience is quite similar to the Get With The personal assistant in Windows 10. The operation is similar, with the ability to read and send messages, calls, access contacts, calendars and email accounts, among other.

The Android user will be able to receive weather alerts, traffic recommendations or restaurants commitments warnings, as if with Windows Phone. Apparently, on Android, there is no possibility of the Cortana read email, or the Quiet Hours functionality, which places the phone in silence for calls that come at certain times.

Being only one app for Android does not bring integration with the browser, as with the Edge in Windows 10. It remains to see if the user community will be ready to replace the Google Now already present in Android by Microsoft personnel assistant.
