Nexus devices have a preference when a new version of Android mobile operating system is available. Even minor updates first landed in smartphones and tablets with Google’s signature in partnership with other major brands in the industry. Being an open system, these files are quickly available to the community of independent developers to create alternative ROMs containing with the most current features, such as the CyanogeMod and its new version 12.1 with Android 5.1 .1.
It’s only been a week since Google released the Android 5.1.1 for the Nexus 2013 Asus WiFi tablet. The firmware named LMY48G under the tag brings 5.1.1.r6 only minor fixes (not listed), but thanks to AOSP code is already possible to have this new version in several Nexus devices not through the ROM CyanogenMod.
As we mentioned recently, even models with a few years on the market once again have new life thanks to the Android AOSP, with the possibility of receiving new resources through unofficial updates. As examples we can recall the Galaxy S2 and even the Motorola Xoom tablet veteran.
Those interested in trying the ROM CyanogenMod can check if there is a file to your device in the CM group page for downloads. There are constant updates to add features and fix bugs.
