The malware is starting to take account of Android – Pplware

Android is a system that repeatedly finds himself exposed to serious security problems. Typically, they are applications that are posted to the Play Store and similar stores that can infect thousands of devices and steal data or other materials.

A recent study has revealed an even worse and very worrying scenario for users of Android . In 2014, 1 in 6 existing applications for Android was a disguised malware .

These figures are the result of a study by Symantec, held during the year 2014 and show a very bleak picture for Android and for applications that users have access.

What can be seen in this study, the percentage of malicious applications in different applications stores that user has access are increasingly taking filled with software that once installed proves a headache for users.

This number is extremely high at around 17%, a value not expect to see and showing weaknesses in the application approval systems in Android stores.

But in addition to this large number, there is an even more worrying and also high. We speak of the software that Symantec categorized as greyware.

This software does not appear problematic at install time, but some time later assumes its true identity and eventually become malignant. This software is already about 36% of applications available for installation.

This study evaluated over 200 applications stores for Android in where the download more than 50,000 applications.

Most of the malware found mainly aims to steal user data such as phone numbers and telephone directories, only to be sold.

There are still the leading smartphones to send SMS to value-added services or advertising feature in any application without user control.

The areas where further spread of this malware are in places where it is difficult or impossible access to Google’s application store which forces users to make use of stores unofficial applications and where they are often tampered with or altered for very specific purposes.

Interestingly this same study managed to find three applications for iOS that were malware, but that forced users to have jailbreak for any problem was created.

The biggest problem is the Android even in applications that are obtained parallel to the official shops and where there is no control over the applications available there.
