Android in force, Windows stays out. These are the plans … – TeK.sapo

A few months ago the leaders of Huawei had already anticipated that the Windows Mobile operating system was not profitable, but despite the release of Windows 10 planned for this summer, a return remains outside the company’s strategy.

On the sidelines of the launch yesterday of Ascend P8, Richard Ren, president of Huawei’s equipment area to Western Europe confirmed the TeK there are no plans for new brand devices with this operating system.

“In the area of OS and chipset Huawei always chose the strongest. And today when we look at the market share we see that Android dominates and that Windows is a niche market, “explains Richard Ren in an interview with TeK. Even the release of Windows 10 will not bring change, believed responsible for the European market, which claims to be late. “The time has passed for them. It was like trying to launch another social network now. ”

In terms of market Huawei has a very aggressive position and want to be in the next three years in the top 3 of the European market, not only in volume but also in value and so the company prepares to launch more premium products. Richard Ren ensures that in Southern Europe, in countries like Spain or Italy, the market share of Huawei already is around 9-10% and that these numbers will be even consolidated this year.

Huawei is betting on three product lines, with releases spaced in time: P for premium, Mate that bridges the gap between smartphones and phablets, and the G series, where the brand want to win in volume but with quality equipment and good design.

For now also betting on curved screens – being the great feeling with the Galaxy Samsung edge – is also rejected the company’s plans. “We are focusing on full metal where customers have shown much interest [...] We do not know whether the market will accept and curved screens. If customers do not find an application that makes sense is only a feature that costs more 200 euros, “explains Richard Ren.
