Qualcomm and media company Technicolor (the same who brought the colorful images on film) announced on Thursday, 12, at IBC in Amsterdam, a collaboration agreement for the production a new set-top box that uses LTE, terrestrial broadcast and Android operating system. Baptized with the acronym SVELTE (Stimulating Experience Video over LTE), the product has the ambition to be a portable media center and use the Snapdragon mobile processor 600 to not only bring TV services, but also connectivity to the TV and also compatible games.

According to the companies, this is a unique triple-play over the mobile network, going beyond the concept of smart TV devices like Apple TV and Chromecast that rely on Wi-Fi and / or Ethernet fixed and limited the content over-the-top. Qualcomm and Technicolor have not announced the release date and availability or SVELTE.
