When Samsung announced the Galaxy Gear, earlier this month, many people were disappointed with the fact that the smart watch only work with the Galaxy Note 3. A few days ago, the company confirmed to the Korea Times that the Galaxy S4 will win update to Android 4.3 in October.
Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II must be updated by December. The Android 4.3 brings support for Bluetooth low energy connections necessary, in principle, to communicate with the Galaxy Gear.
But it seems that it is possible to use at least with the Galaxy S4 Gear. The staff of the French site Planete Galaxy auditioned (video below). The clock talked smoothly with S4 after the Gear Manager app, available in the Samsung Apps store, was installed on it.
The only restriction is on applications. On Galaxy Note 3 Samsung Apps displays a specific section with titles created for use with Gear. In other smartphones, this section does not appear. Check out the video showing the Galaxy S4 communicating with Gear:
