The Huawei Ascend Mate is a 6.1-inch phablet that combines a good IPS screen with HD resolution with good technical specifications and competitive prices for the market segment in which it competes: while it is possible to find this giant for prices that are around € 365 in popular retail chains like Fnac the Ascend Mate is available for € 500.

is big, even bigger than the Galaxy S4 or the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. In terms of construction, however, can be quite elegant for a player his size, and has a good build quality. In fact, and perhaps uniquely, the fact that the back being in a plastic device 6 inches above the most likely only has to favor, as perhaps more rigid materials could further influence their weight. On top of Ascend Mate, and similar devices from different ranges of high, we find robust umaentrada SIM card, which requires a small switch to open. At his side we find a microSD card slot with support for memory expansion up to 32 GB. The screen, a giant 6.1-inch, is sturdy and the glass is based on Gorilla Glass.

There is an element able to disappoint us a bit, even taking into account the full technical specifications associated with its relatively low price, in terms of actually prevents grievance: the resolution of your screen, What is HD (1280 x 720), is not as high as that, or at least has a pixel density merely reasonable. Continues to be good enough to ensure a good surfing experience and consumption of multimedia content in HD.

Software and Hardware

Kill The Huawei Ascend runs Android 4.1 and is upgradeable to 4.2, both versions being quite acceptable operating system. Regarding the user interface, and the similarity of the interface Ascend G510, the Emotion UI boils down to simplicity and, perhaps, do remember iOS in terms of structure and simplicity. Looks pretty nice compared to UI Ascend Mate is that it reveals the care – and consciousness – that Huawei had to design a screen so big, prompting the company to adapt some features to allow its implementation with only one hand. The keyboard, for example, is capable of displaying a reduced size to eliminate the need to use more than one hand. Yet the exceptional size of this device is not always militates in his favor.

In terms of hardware we have a very interesting machine: the processor is 1.5 GHz quad-core (Cortex A9), has 2 GB of RAM, 5 GB of storage space which can be extended via Expandable Memory (microSD) and 4050 mAh battery. The performance and battery consumption were relatively reasonable.

In terms of digital camera, the Ascend Mate includes 8 MP with autofocus and flash, and various image options and a good range of options available to the user. The image quality on the other hand, is softer than full of contrasts, and although some would enjoy pictures so we thought we could have been better. This means that in low light conditions or busy, the performance of the camera may leave something to be desired. These aspects are noticeable especially after spending the photos to the computer. The front camera is 1 MP and can record images in high definition (720p).

conclusions about the Huawei Ascend Mate

Within the category in which it competes, and especially given its price-quality ratio, the Huawei Ascend Mate is a good device. The giant 6.1-inch screen does not display the highest resolution on the market, but it lets you enjoy a high-definition experience, comes equipped with a quad-core processor and know how to use smart energy consumption, which means its only active four cores when you really need them, it can run both applications as smartphone tablet, although this second category presents its formatting is sometimes rough.

One aspect of this phablet uncomfortable, besides its gigantism, is that sometimes overheat too. This becomes particularly troublesome if we receive a call however: beyond habituation we need to be able to synchronize the ear with the handset, excessive heat simply becomes uncomfortable. Its size also run the risk of calling upon us some unnecessary attention, sometimes humorous.

Overall, however, can associate optimal technical specifications to a very competitive price. We were very pleased with this product and recommend it to lovers of giant screens that spend a lot of time surfing the web or consume media while moving.
