New version of Android will call KitKat

São Paulo, 04 (AE) – Google has always named the different versions of the Android OS with the name of sweets such as Cupcake, Donut, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, following the alphabetical order. The new version of the system, however, surprised by adopting the first time the name of a well known brand of chocolate. The new Android 4.4 will draw KitKat.
The information was confirmed by Google executive Sundar Pichai on his Twitter page. Before the official announcement, it was speculated that the name of the system would be Key Lime Pie. The Google executive also revealed that there are currently 1 billion handsets that use Android market, a new record for the company. With the partnership, the Android system, currently the market leader, should have even more exposure.
Google has already released to a promotional page of the new system. At the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., a giant statue of the Android robot mascot made with KitKat can already be seen in front of the building of the team responsible for the operating system. No information about the features that will be available in the new version of Android nor a release date.
The idea of ??a partnership with Nestlé, responsible for manufacturing the chocolate came from Google itself, according to the company, who told TechCrunch site that it is a partnership between the marks without any payment of money by any parties to use the trademarks.
Over 50 million KitKat bars will be released in special packaging with the mascot robot system, which will give customers the chance to win a tablet Nexus 7 or credits in the app store Google Play. A small amount of KitKat bar-shaped robot will also be offered as a premium markets selected according to Nestle. The company does not report, however, if Brazil is among these markets. In total, 19 countries will receive a commemorative edition chocolate.
