Android is arguably the most threatened mobile platform with respect to malware. It is a rare day that does not discover new threats and in recent months the fashion threat is ransomware.

How it works
As other malware of this type, Lockerpin is camouflaged in apparently normal applications. Once installed these apps, the user is notified of a pending update, the user must press a button to continue. After this time the ransomware is installed and immediately changes the password to access the system.
According to ArsTechnica, this ransomware was also detected only in applications that are outside of Google Play, especially in Porn Droid app. If you have a device with root and frequently install apps outside the official Google application store, be careful because there is not yet any solution to this new threat.
