Android applications reach two new Chromebooks – Android Emotions (Blog)

Chromebooks now can now run Android apps from the Play Store. This is possible at least on a Chromebook, ASUS Chromebook Flip. From version 53 of Chrome is the only device that has been updated with this feature. This is a bit strange, since Google promotes several other Chromebook through the Google Store, including their own Pixel devices.

According to Google’s support page, the next Chromebooks that will receive support for Android applications are the Chromebook Pixel (updated version of last year) and the Acer Chromebook R11, also known as C738T. An earlier version of the page explicitly states that these two laptops would receive Android application developer a more recent build, which could indicate that the feature will not soon get the beta or stable channel of Chrome OS.

Android application support list in Chrome for 2016/2017 is quite extensive and includes not only models from major manufacturers, as well as small Dell, Toshiba and Lenovo and many other lesser known brands that probably many users never heard of.
