M Android natively supports output videos in 4K thanks to … – Tudocelular.com

It was discovered recently that Android F has Ultra HD native support for screens, better known as 4K. This novelty allows manufacturers have bet on smartphones with such a resolution, which we have seen rumors that Samsung intends to bring its first Super AMOLED 4K in Galaxy Note 5. ZTE is one that can also bet on as many pixels to close a partnership with Sharp to already has 5.5 inch screen ready for production.

The novelty of time is also linked to the resolution Ultra HD in little robot system, but this time we know that the preview version of Android M offers also supports video output in 4K with the introduction of new APIs for Google. This means that you can record a video on your smartphone this resolution (something that any current flagship is capable of doing) and move the content to a monitor or even TV without any loss of quality. Some manufacturers such as Nvidia already offer this kind of possibility with your set-top box Shield , but this is the first time that Google has such implementation.

However, It is good to be aware that only the recorded videos in 4K are displayed in this resolution on external sources. The system interface, for example, still being displayed at the same resolution of the screen of your smartphone. In this case, if you connect a Nexus 5 in an Ultra HD TV, you can watch videos in 4K resolution, but the rest of the content will be displayed in Full HD, fitting the TV do the upscaling work.

It is also good to be aware that not all hardware will be able to play content in 4K. In the case of Qualcomm chipsets, only the models Snapdragon 800 on offer this type of support. Thus, even though some older model has been fortunate to be upgraded to Android M, you can not take advantage of this novelty. There is also another detail to be considered. Each developer will have to adopt the new Google API for the support to be added to his execution videos app.
