LG has already confirmed that it has no plans to bring Android 5.1.1 update for Lollipop their latest top of the range, the LG G4. All users who purchased the terminal will be “stuck” to the software that came pre-installed on the device until it is released the new Android M.
In the last week the LG had confirmed that it would not bring Android 5.1 Lollipop for your high-end of last year – LG G3 – and now has the same strategic position for its new flagship. This choice by the manufacturer will surely leave some pretty frustrated users, as they will not be able to have access to any new functionality introduced by the new updates of the Android Lollipop.
This might not be so frustrating for LG G4 users if the manufacturer provides to the Android M this autumn, when Google make Android M available to the public, but it is virtually certain that this will not happen. LG will first need to optimize the entire software for the G4, add your own changes and functionality ultimately will still need the approval of mobile operators to complete the process.
Given the time that this type of process has led in previous updates, it is likely that the LG G4 will receive the upgrade to Android M only at the beginning of next year, which means long time without receiving any software updates
