Google begins offering “free app of the week” in the Play Store – TeK.sapo

Following in the footsteps of other application stores, Google started this week at their “market” online, the Play Store, a promotion titled “Free app of the week”. As the name implies, this is an application that would normally be paid, but that seven days is available for free.

The first app available is Daniel Tiger Grr-ific Feelings, a game aimed at children. The application is highlighted in the family section, both on mobile devices and on the Web version. However, if users try to look otherwise than from banner advertising, it will appear with the normal cost.

So far Google has not released details on this new initiative. It was unclear if the “Week app” will cover other sections of the Play Store, it is a temporary initiative or come to countries other than the United States.

Last month, the technological added a content section to the Play Store which simplifies the search for applications that can be shared by parents and children, identifying them with a symbol of a green star.

This action by Google follows in the footsteps of other applications stores. In the past, Apple has offered a free application on your App Store also for seven days and Amazon continues to offer an app every day of the week, in its alternative store for Android.
