Android, the mobile system of Google, currently dominates more than 80% of the market. A large clearance distance from the second (IOS 15%) and third (3% Windows Phone) placed. But we need to keep evolving to offer new and improved features that fidelizarão users. Thinking about it, the Android M was presented at the Google I / O 2015 on 28 May, with news absent in version 5 Lollipop.
In order for the new system green little robot comes to users as a final version, with minimal mistakes and resources running smoothly, they are released the Developer Preview files (available for the Nexus line and some Sony devices) for developers that will make testing your applications. And it is through these versions we discover new and interesting news , which listed eight following
. 1 – Automatic backup applications to Google Drive
We started by a resource already commented on another matter Everything Mobile, a robust backup system. The new Android will allow users to automatically save to Google Drive, not only the applications installed on the device, as well as the data, preferences and settings. You can also select only the data you want to save to your account in the cloud. Unfortunately, there is a limitation only 25MB of data each application can be saved.
The Google Play saves the application interface used by the user, but with the new backup feature to reduce the inconvenience to migrate one device to another, since it would be possible to recover the smartphone or tablet at about the state of the last use. In the video below you can see the very Sundar Pichai explaining the resource during the Google I / O.
2 – numerical indicator of battery percentage
Another innovation we’ve seen here is the update icon that indicates the battery charge. A feature currently only possible with independent developers tools or interfaces of some manufacturers may finally turn standard in all devices are updated to the new Android M. The battery icon will display numerically the amount of charge that remains to device
. 3 – Native support for external storage
As you can see the line of Nexus devices, Google is not a fan of entries for microSD cards or other forms of external storage. There’s even a strict system of control even in devices such entries (preventing the installation of applications on the external card to save internal memory). But the Mountain View giant is reviewing its policy (which has improved in Android Lollipop) to make it even more beneficial to users in the Android M.
The new system will be supported to recognize a storage unit external and internal storage, thus, increase the main memory and optimize this extra space for installing applications and archiving of diverse data more securely. But here too there is a price to pay, depending on the device and external memory used, performance can not be the same as the use only with the internal memory.
4 – System Tuner UI (UI System Tuner)
Thanks to Material Design and unlocked APIs that came to Android 5, significant changes have been made available to users, but as everything can be improved, the new Android M wants to give even more power to freedom of choice. The status bar displays the current Lollipop fixedly some of the most used options, but the idea is that the new system upgrade allows each user to select the “feature” that would like to drive fast through a shortcut on the status bar and may even exclude others who are not so frequently accessed. See this new facility demonstrated in the following video
. 5 – Dark Theme (Dark Theme)
Android Lollipop brought a white background for the application pages, but this feature can make a difference in the autonomy of some devices due to the number of pixels being illuminated on the screen. A dark subject consumes less battery, that is why the Android M will allow users to choose between three options of topics, an automatic mode, a clear theme and the other dark. The video below shows the options and effects
. 6 – application drawer with renewed search option
The app drawer also received special attention, and now has a slash to conduct research, to make it easier to find an installed application. Also for changing the scroll position, instead of horizontally, will now need to slide the finger vertically. And we still have the alphabetical display option on the left side of the drawer, with the possibility to go to the letter you want by dragging your finger on the right of the screen. Resources before possible via any app Launcher, but now will become the default in Android M. Check out a demo in the video below.
7 – Support for Biometric Reader
Another novelty commented during the Google I / O 2015 was the inclusion of APIs in Android M for developers to work with the support biometric reading. In practice this would allow, for example, users to use digital to unlock applications, trigger functions or confirm payments through smartphone with the appropriate hardware. Currently manufacturers like Samsung (from the Galaxy S5) and Apple (from the iPhone 5s) already make extensive use of biometric reading, which may ultimately become a standard in Nexus devices and other manufacturers. In the video below you will see the demonstration of technology with what appears to be a LG Nexus 5 with integrated biometric reader (from 2:20).
8 – Android Pay integrated
Google wants to help the market to replace the traditional credit cards, offering” Simplicity, security and choice to choose “Pay with Android system which will come integrated with Android M. The novelty will be compatible with American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover, and will help users of Android smartphones to perform products online payments, offline and perhaps even purchases within applications. We are facing a solution that can cause headache to Samsung and Apple Pay Pay.
As we can see by this short list , Android M wants to fill gaps that were in Lollipop, but will still need to wait a bit until the final version is released for the Nexus line and subsequently by other manufacturers. And you, are eager for some of the resources listed above?
