Mobile devices have revolutionized the use of equipment and how we connect to information. The arrival of wearables has further change this paradigm and create an even closer.
But the truth is that these new devices, even with all the interest generated on users, have ended up with sales in much lower than expected levels and in particular Google’s bet turned out to not give the expected results.
From the world of wearable devices that were launched in 2014 it was expected that Google and its Wear operating system had a great predominance.
The reasons for this idea is based on the fact that the Most equipment available on wearable devices universe are based on this operating system.
This was the Google of the will when presented the Android Wear and wanted this platform was a working base that large companies produce their devices, easily and with an interface that users were used to.
But now numbers presented by the company Canalys come to show a completely different reality. According to this analysis of the company during the year 2014 was sold about 4.6 million wearable devices.
Given the expectations that had for this market this number turns out to be greatly reduced. But worst sales performance had the Google Android and Wear.
The Canalys figures show that the total number of devices sold only 720,000 were equipped with Android Wear.
Over 720,000 Android devices shipped in 2014 Wear out of a total of 4.6 million wearable smart bands. Though the Moto 360 Remained supply constrained through Q4, Motorola was the clear leader Among Android Wear vendors. LG’s round G Watch R Performed Significantly better than its original G Watch, while Asus and Sony entered the market with Their Own Android Wear devices.
It is also curious to see the equipment that had more success in this market, and associated with Android Wear were not the first models but the updates that came later, much more approximate to which is understood as a clock.
The bulk of the sales were in equipment much further than can be associated to a clock, this place being assigned to Wearable devices with ancillary functions.
Examples of such devices are in that can function as smartbands and as associated with fitness devices.
There is also an opinion of an analyst at Canalys, Daniel Matte, who told The Wall Street Journal does not like much of Android Wear, defining it as “not very good”.
This professional also stated that there are no operating systems for wearable devices as good as those available for smartphones and tablets.
The figures were a novelty or were in fact expected
