Latest version of Android this in less than 2% of … – TeK.sapo

Fragmentation has always been a world problem and Android is sometimes the only reason that leads users to abandon a certain brand, while having a device with specifications that can receive the latest versions of the system operating. The report published on Tuesday by Google shows that the lollipop, the latest version, is currently present in only 1.6% of devices.

This is the first time that version 5.0, announced in October last year, enters the Google report, which analyzed the versions of the operating system through the visits to the Play Store in the last seven days.

With 44.5%, version 4.1 Jelly Bean – and all its variants – remains the dominant market, followed by 4.4 KitKat, present in 39.7% of the analyzed equipment. Both the Android Ice Cream Sandwich as Gingerbread, both released more than three years down its share but still gather a total of 13.8%.

Although the Nexus line of equipment, from Google itself, some smartphones from HTC and Motorola have been upgraded to the 5.0 version of Android quickly, at least in some countries, the upgrade has been slow to reach other devices with an important representation in the market, which will also help to explain the numbers.
