Android loses popularity in major markets in the world – Digital Look

Out on Tuesday, 10, a new edition of the Kantar Worldpanel ComTech study, which reveals data on the smartphone market in the world in the last quarter. The most interesting data show the fall of Android in most markets analyzed.

In the US, the iPhone has taken over the tip in sales after staying behind Google since 2012. At the end quarter of 2014, there were an increase of 3.8 percentage points of market iOS, while Android fell the same 3.8. The difference in participation between the two is minimal now, with Apple’s software present in 47.7% of handsets sold, while Google is 47.6%.

The trend was repeated in Europe , Australia and China, although to different extents.

“EU5″, which includes Italy, France, Germany, the UK and Spain, Android saw the same drop of 3.8 percentage points, but iOS has a greater leap, 6.2, possibly stealing the Windows Phone market and smaller systems. Google thus was present in 66.1% of the devices, while Apple was at 24.1%.

In China, the negative change of Android was 1.6 percentage points, while the iOS was positive 2.5 points. In Australia it was more pronounced, with a fall of 13.8 Android and an increase of 10.3 iPhone.

The exception, according to research, is Japan, which had a sharp increase in number of Androids smartphones sold in the last quarter of 2014 with an increase of 7.8 percentage points, while the iPhone has lost popularity, down 8.5 points
