[Google TV should turn into Android TV later this year] - Xpert Mobile

you heard in Google TV ? Probably yes. But have you ever seen someone using a Google TV device? Probably not. The answer to these two questions and summarizes the reason for the post. The Google TV was launched three years ago with great fanfare by the Giant of searches. The hope was that the device dominate the segment and become a reference. But three years later it is easy to know the end of this story. Sales were very low and the product never fell in popular taste.

To resolve this issue, sources close to Google told the blog GigaOM that the company intends to rename devices for Google TV Android TV. It makes sense. Although the Google brand is known worldwide, when speaking at a Google TV concept is rather vague. But when you take the Android brand, also widely known, and inserts the suffix TV, things start to make a little more sense. Have you ever imagine a TV that runs the Android operating system and will allow you to access YouTube, Netflix and play movies purchased or rented from Google Play, and many other possibilities.

With the release of Chromecast, which sold out in no time, we might think that was the final end of Google TV. But, it seems, the company will only take what is best in Android 4.4 Kitkat (not yet released), replacing the obsolete Android 3.0 Honeycomb, and what’s best in Chromecast and blend the two to form the Android TV. But of course, this information has not been confirmed by anyone.

So we will see later this year, the Google TV Platform Android TV to be changed which in turn , equip multiple devices from various manufacturers. They then choose what modifications would like to make, such as choosing native apps, etc.. And the remote control instead of a hulk with a QWERTY keyboard would be your smartphone. How cool is that? If the information is true, we can see that ad with the Android 4.4.
