BlackBerry Messenger available for iOS and Android - Tecnologia.com.pt

blackberry_bbm_android_ios The BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry Messenger application known as BBM is now available for download on Apple’s iTunes and Google Play.

Initially, the company had thought BBM launch last month, but plans were changed when a first version of the app for Android appeared publicly ahead of schedule.

At the time, the BlackBerry until said “about 1 million Android users” were using the unreleased version of BBM for Android . Earlier in the day the company announced that “in the coming hours, people will start to see BBM on Google Play and the App Store,” and that many users have come to realize the existence of the app on social networks.

BBM is one of the applications most famous and successful of blakberry and so were many users complained that their final release for iOS and Android. According to the company, there over 60 million users worldwide, who exchange more than 10 billion messages per day.

Although the platform remains popular BBM will have to compete with several other messaging services on iOS and Android, including WhatsApp and WeChat . Only WhatsApp has over 300 million active users, sending 27 billion messages per day.

BlackBerry Messenger offers basic text chats, group chats, voice messages via push-to-talk and sharing images. Users are invited to create a profile that includes a picture, name and status.
