BlackBerry admits only use Android in mobile future – Look Digital

After the relative success of Priv, its first smartphone with Android operating system, the BlackBerry seems determined to adopt completely the Google platform. According to Damian Tay, the company’s product manager, the BB10 system will be completely abandoned in future releases.

“The Priv was essentially our transition to the Android ecosystem. So we guarantee the security of Android, within a certain period of time, we will have two platforms, and we should just keep Android as a platform. The future is even Android, “he said.

For some time rumors that the BlackBerry has interest to discontinue its own software in favor of Android, but this is the first time that a major source within the company admits this strategy publicly. In addition, Tay said two new phones with Google’s system are under development in different price ranges, but did not reveal release date or any other details.
