N abandon Android Java Oracle in exchange for OpenJDK – Tudocelular.com

Large majority of Android apps using Java code as the programming language, being the exception for some games. But this operating system dependence, which also made in the interface language, should take no longer decreasing. In May, a group of Google engineers showed a new project called Sky, which uses the Dart programming language as a Java replacement – but it was not given information when we would see such a change

Improvements. brought by the Dart would be in some fast, responsive applications that run always stable without delay in view. This would allow seeing games and other app running at 120 frames per second in the smartphone screen while the current standard is 60 Hz – of course, for it would be necessary to have smartphones with screen with 120Hz refresh rate, something that we do not see the market.

While the Dart not leave the paper, Google announced a major change to the Android Java dependency. It was revealed that the company does not intend to rely on the Oracle proprietary APIs and use only open OpenJDK code. This discovery was made by analyzing the code of the next version of Android, called for now only N, and that was confirmed by Google to be one of the great innovations of the little robot in 2016.

“As an open-source platform, Android will continue to be built on the cooperation of the open-source community,” a Google spokesperson told VentureBeat. “In our next version of Android, we intend to move from Android Java libraries for an approach based on OpenJDK, resulting in the creation of a common code base for developers, which will facilitate the development of applications and services. Google worked for a long time and contributed to the OpenJDK community, and we look forward to further realize contributions to the OpenJDK project for the future. “

It was discovered when analyzing the Android code base that Google is working on this change since February. With this news, the company cut its time ties with Oracle – something that was intended with the move to the Dart language. Now we can only wait for Android N to seeing the benefits provided by the adoption of a fully free and open language developers.
