The announcement was a surprise. Nokia – the Finnish company sold the business to Microsoft phones to devote to infrastructure communications – showed a tablet equipped with Android operating system, which will be on sale only in China

The device, called N1, was presented on Tuesday in Helsinki. T in a 7.9-inch screen, a quad-core 2.4Ghz and the latest Android version, modified with a proprietary interface developed by Nokia, called Z Launcher and it had already been presented. OZ Launcher can also be downloaded for free to other Android devices.

The N1 will be on sale in the Chinese market in the first quarter of 2015 for around 200 Euros before taxes. Without giving details, the company said it expects to expand sales to other countries.

The market, however, will be made through a licensing agreement with a local partner, who will be fully responsible for the manufacture and distribution of apparatus, and the guarantees and customer support, in different from that followed by the Nokia mobile strategy. In addition to the Nokia brand (that Microsoft also bought rights to use, but they stopped using the smartphones ), the company will license the design and the Z Launcher and other intellectual property.

The Finnish multinational, i could never adapt to changing consumer for smartphones , thus enters a market already packed Android tablets, but it is led by the iPad, Apple . According to figures from analyst IDC, Apple had 23% of the market last quarter, followed by Samsung with 18%, and Asus, which sells the Nexus tablet in partnership with Google and had 7% share. Between July and September, were put on sale around the world close to 54 million units, 12% more than the same period last year.

This is not the first tablet Nokia, although the previous release was already aligned with the decision to sell to Microsoft. Last year, the company launched a tablet equipped with Windows Phone, the Lumia 2520, which is now in the hands of the American multinational.

It is also not the first time the company introduces Android devices. Earlier in the year, and that was also a surprise, launched low-cost smartphones Nokia X, a line that was quickly canceled by Microsoft when the acquisition was completed a few months later.
