Perform the procedure root access on Android is a common task among users. Recent research has shown that this practice is performed by 27.5% of the users of the system . The method can be done very simply on most devices, but the Google made some changes in Lollipop that can end up discouraging many to continue with this practice.
The change consists of the updates via OTA , the most common today in the world of smartphones. In previous versions of Android, the entire update was done file by file, changing only what had not been changed by the user. Thus, the root could be maintained. In the lollipop, the entire system is updated at once. So, if any of the modified system file, the update will be canceled .
The Google contends that the move aims to ensure both user safety by keeping the system intact, as also to prevent your smartphone suffers a problem that prevents you from booting the system. If root access is something essential for you, Google recommends that you reinstall the standard Rom , install the update via OTA and then do the root process again.
This does not is a practical solution, since you will have to reformat your smartphone whenever you need to upgrade, but at least the Mountain View giant does not have complicated the process of this deeper system access with Lollipop. The same will happen with the Android customized by manufacturers.
