The Android operating system will expand its dominance in the smartphone market by 2020, anticipates International Data Corporation (IDC), in a report released this Thursday, September 1st.
IDC predicts that the market share of Google’s operating system will increase from the current 85.3% to 85.7% in 2020, mainly at the expense of Windows Phone, which should see its share fall from 0.5% currently to 0.1% in four years, and “other”, which will virtually disappear from the market.
this is because the second largest “player” of the smartphone market will also expand its position. According to IDC, iOS will have a 14.2% market share in 2020, up from the current 13.9%.
However, the sale of equipment iPhone will grow at a slower pace than sales of smartphones using the Android system.
