You can already use the Android system Auto even if you have no car! – Aquelamaquina (Registration) (Blog)

Despite the huge technological leap that the terminal multimedia of cars have suffered in the last few years, there are studies that confirm that the majority of people are still unhappy with the GPS systems in their vehicles, and many of them prefer to turn to the navigation applications of their smartphones. The main reasons for this preference relate to the fact that of GPS systems integrated into the vehicles continue to be far more complicated to operate and above all slower. On the other hand, to configure a certain route on the smartphone it takes a few seconds and is quite simple.

However, the “gap” between these two solutions has been getting lower and lower each time, much through the fault of systems like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which allow you to “mirror” what you’re seeing in the mobile phone to the multimedia system of your vehicle. However, there is a huge “con” for this system. Is that there continue to be millions of vehicles (older) that does not support this type of integration, or are not even equipped with a screen, leaving its users “outside” of the equation.

But those days will end. Is that Google has just released a new update for its service, Android Auto allows users to use the application exclusively on the smartphone, and all you need is a mobile phone able to “run” the Android operating system 5.0 or higher.

This will cause that users can take advantage of all the features of Android Auto without the need of having a car equipped with a screen, or if we want to be more radical, nor need to have a car to use. In addition to the navigation system, Google Maps, you can take advantage of applications such as Spotify or Google Play Music while driving and voice commands, a very useful feature so you don’t lose “focus” of the road.

Google also explained that this new update allows the application to “start” automatically as soon as you detect and pair with the Bluetooth of the car.
