Android: Great for innovation in Europe – ECO Economy Online

The economy mobile contributes with 1.1 trillion dollars to the GDP. Only in Italy, the Android has generated, since the start, of 79,000 new jobs in application programming.

How do you like your smartphone? Large or small? Top of the range, or cheaper? With as many or as few applications? Do you like to have your applications arranged in folders or scattered in the main screen? What are the apps you use the most? Look at the phones of the other people and none of them will be equal to your.

nearly a decade Ago, we launched Android, the our operating system in open source. These days, smartphones were rare, and our goal was to make them accessible to all people — in order to increase choice and innovation by stimulating competition. Today, there are more than 24,000 equipment from over 1300 brands with the Android operating system. More than a million apps, and much more to choose from. This level of competition, choice and innovation has brought down prices and provided equipment 40 euros. Here is the heart of Android.

The popularity of these equipment is not the only reason for Android to be the target of media attention. It is public that the European Commission (EC) has been questioning the fact as to how the Android works to handset manufacturers, developers and for you, the user. It is clear that we are working together with the EC research and have already responded formally to the issues raised. the it Is also important to have as the Android has fuelled competition and spurred the growth in Europe.

Tim Berners-Lee eternalized the phrase "The Internet is for everyone" and the Android is absolutely for everyone. Any person can create an application, any person can draw and take a phone to the market. This situation contrasts with that if you lived in 2007. Who should an application had to customize it, and test it in a wide variety of operating systems, equipment and networks – hundreds of them. And these phones were definitely not for everyone. In 2006, only 1% of the world had a smartphone. We wanted to transform this reality and we succeeded. Currently, more than 1.4 billion people use the Android operating system worldwide.

But, the Android was very different from that of the operating systems closed and the equipment available at that time. Working closely with the industry of mobile phones, we have created a new approach and open to the smartphones. In the center was — and is — an operating system open and free. This creates a field where the mobile phone manufacturers, developers and mobile operators can compete — and on behalf of the consumer.

Today, the range of Android phones and tablets will a mere 40€ for smartphones for basic equipment the tops of the range that can reach up to 1000€. The Android allows small to manufacturers of phones, as Wiko and Archos is in France to compete with the giants of the industry by lowering the barriers of entry and allowing them to create what you imagine with or without Google applications. So, today there are phones sustainable with replaceable parts; tablets for kids with large buttons and colorful, phones, Dual Slim that allow the user to manage multiple subscriptions – among other models. Today, smartphones, are truly for everyone.

our aim at Google goes through to organize the world’s information, and these days, smartphones are the primary way people access the information online. Whether it is to find a recipe, or choose a place to dine, we use our phones to access the information at the moment. And we don’t do it just by searching the Web, we also use applications. The Play Store will be the place where you can download applications for your Android devices — has created a market online well diversified, where competition flourishes. The super european stars have emerged from the restless Angry Birds to the application of French car-sharing BlaBlaCar. In fact, the programmers applications the europeans are leading the table with 40 of the 100 most popular applications in Europe and in the USA.

All this activity has an impact is quite real in economic terms, at a time when Europe is in search of growth. The European Union is to update the legislation to create the Single Digital Market which will allow entrepreneurs and european business take full advantage of every opportunity. the economy mobile contributes with 1.1 trillion dollars to the GDP — about 1.4% of the global value. Only in Italy, the Android has generated, from its inception, of 79,000 new jobs in application programming. This is just the beginning – as more and more people have smartphones, start the program and to be involved in, the sector of the applications will be able to create alone in 2018, about 4.8 million new jobs on the european level

unlike other operating systems, handset manufacturers or mobile operators can interact and customize your own software; they may also sell Android devices with or without Google applications — and case, wants to sell phones with Google applications pre-installed, there are no restrictions in the pre-installation of concurrent applications.

it only Takes a few seconds to download and install an app — and there is more than 1 million applications in the Play Store. In average, an Android phone comes equipped with 45 pre-installed applications — and, an average user downloads approximately 50 apps. In regards to the choice to the users, with the Android-the options are endless.

The freedom of choice that passes for freedom to get out and this is why we created Android so that the user can uninstall any application pre-installed, including Google applications. The user can replace a search box or a browser in just 30 seconds and in a few steps. If you do not believe me, see all of the different browsers available on Google Play: Firefox has been downloaded over 150 million times on Google Play and the Opera has been downloaded over 200 million times.

people from all over the world use Android for the options that it provides. Here in Europe, we are incredibly proud of this, because when you create a product "for all", the freedom of choice is important.

we Agree with the European Commission that the option of choice is critical and very important, and we believe that the history of Android — developed for all — shows that we have increased the choice for consumers. And we are very proud of the fact that millions of people around the world agree with us.
