We are already accustomed to reading news on the alleged risk that millions of Android smartphones may be running when it comes to security. Several kinds of malware can have easy access to our devices, something that’s easily avoided if we make downloads of the sites certain and credible sources.

however, for more careful we can be, there is indeed a reason for all this alarm in the back of the handsets that run Android. According to Matthew Green, a professor of Encryption at John Hopkins University, the latest Android version 7.0 Nougat does not represent the security levels required for today. Although with the Nougat devices leave the encryption method to "full-disk", rather exceeded, the security levels will not yet be the ideal with the encrypting individual files, whereas the keywords will be easily accessed, and they are hosted in the memory of the device.

"Being optimistic, one can argue that the [system] Android will be following the right direction. And even though there is a lot of work ahead, an unfinished implementation of an individual protection per file will be better than the old protection full-disk encryption in Android." > > > > – Matthew Green, on the Blog, Cryptographic Engineering

If we compare the levels of security that Android and iPhone offer, we can see that, while the iPhone devices offer no less than four levels of protection, the Android Nougat only offers two, which by itself will leave many applications vulnerable.

"on the other hand, it will be easy to detect patterns quite low [in the Android Nougat]. In other words, the version 2016 Android has difficulties to implement an encryption system that atinga the levels of security that the Apple can already since six years ago to here. And even so, will not be to be well implemented. All of this runs counter to the goal of security of Android users."

While you could argue that a user careful, you can avoid such security problems, not all users will have the care necessary, and considering the growing increase of Android users, may indeed be a worrisome situation. As for iPhone users, this may be news quite comforting, considering that the iPhone will be far more advanced in terms of security and will protect you more easily, even those users more careless.
