Delay in Android Updates: danger silent – Leak

Check Point alert to the fact that both Google as mobile device manufacturers take too long to fix the vulnerabilities of the Android. While Apple makes in a few days, in the case of some Android devices the wait for a critical fix can latest months. The company founded by Steve Jobs took 10 days to repair the security flaw Trident, while Larry Page took seven months to finish off the QuadRooter.

But the speed of the Apple is not "free" to most users, since only 13.4% of the smartphones and tablets that use iOS, against 84,3% that have Android as operating system. With a market share so large, it is not surprising that the international bodies Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to press Google to explain because it does not releases security updates more quickly. The the Android ecosystem supports thousands of device models and manufacturers, which makes it easier for cybercriminals with the task of discovering vulnerabilities and makes it more difficult to develop, test, and distribute fixes.

"Google ensures that you are working for the next versions of Android are more secure. The next version 7.0, known as Nougat, will include changes that will allow them to implement the new fixes in a more rapid and independent of brands and manufacturers. In addition, the critical updates will be downloaded passively and automatically installed when you restart the phone", and > > > > xplica Eusebio Nieva, technical director for Check Point to Portugal and Spain. <> > > > > "however, each new version will introduce inevitably new vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit. In addition, there will always be those who look for faults to create the next big threat to mobile devices", concludes.
