Analysis: Box Android Mini MXQ – AndroidGeek

Here is the last of the RK3229 for analysis. And actually one gets impression that the processor has good capabilities but is being underused in cheaper boxes. The box has the same 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, 10/100 Ethernet, Wifi b / g / n and Android 4.4.

Introduction

Let’s have a simple box, on the up we have the names of the box, and a button. In front we have the IR receiver. On the left we have a USB and microSD slot.

In the back we have SPDIF, Ethernet, HDMI, another USB port and power input. At the base we can see the place to reset the box.

Accessories

For the accessories box came with HDMI cable, IR remote, manual and 5V adapter 2A without US adapter (must have been some change).

Inside the Box

In this case the sink is metal plate on top of the box, which is in contact with CPU through a pad. Comes with rtl8189etv for wifi and in terms of card has to be simple, with few components enough.

Navigation

The box comes with android 4.4.4 and has OTA updates, so much so that when asking for check indicated the presence of a new update. For applications have 2.40GB of which we can use 1.70GB for applications, it is possible to remove some applications that come installed base and could be about to 2GB we install our own.

The navigation is fluid and the only situation which notes more slowly is only with heavier games.

As for everything else behaved always very well.

the launcher has just almost be standard in this type of boxes lowcost more.

Wifi / Ethernet

As you can see by Wifi measurement speed is achieved close to 40MB / s in ethernet close to 95MB / s.

the tests were done at about 5-6 meters from the router and have internet to 200MB / s.

As for the ethernet is as expected to 100MB / s, the wifi is internal antenna is not too bad.

However do not expect very good results if they depart from much of the router.

KODI

The tests were done with the version of KODI changed by Luis Grave with improvements Zidoo.

Behavior is quite acceptable, can be reproduced without any problem h264 and h265 format and 10-bit h265. The KODI behavior is also quite fluid. Since a version optimized KODI for RK3229 is used should have no problems.

relation to games was tested without major problems Angry birds and Asphalt 8. times heavier games box jammed or slowed.

As for entertainment applications we tested without problem TV Vodafone, Netflix and Iris Online

Benchmarks

Geekbench 3

Geebench in single-core get 349 points and 1122 in multi-core.

3DMark

In 3DMark got 2202 points.

A1 SD

When the RAM copy speed is achieved speeds of 844MB / s.

in the internal memory can 30MB / s read and 10MB / s writing.

There are very high values, but we are also talking about a box lowcost, can be slightly worse than the MXQ 4K analyzed previously.

AnTuTu v6.x

In AnTuTu get to 20968 points.

AnTuTu Video Tester

Video Tester only 3 formats are not supported at 100% and 8 parcialemente, achieving If 429 points.

Vellamo

DRM

For DRM licenses as you can see not have supported licenses.

Specifications

Negatives

– One has to use KODI amended with Zidoo improvements with version official KODI playing certain videos is not the best;

– Just Android 4.4.4 (most boxes comes with 5.1);

– it has bluetooth;

– sometimes you can turn off in heavier games;

– Audio is stereo (for HDMI pass audio does not pass the DTS, 5.1, etc);

– Off only connects the physical the box button

Strengths

– Price;.

– very positive behavior in KODI with improvements to RK3229;

Conclusion

I believe that the results are expected in a box at this price, is for the KODI, but little else, and besides always has some bugs related to the little importance given the optimization of the installed ROM, which causes the RK3229 processor is barely tapped, as it has plenty of potential.

for my use would be no box for me, however taking into account tighter budgets it may make sense for some people who just need to use KODI sometimes and little else. As I always say, for as low you can not ask for miracles.

Basically this box is a “clone” of MXQ 4K as regards the behavior, only differs in the box and internal components however RK3229 gives almost identical results.

your opinion is important to us.
