A US court gave Google a major victory in a long dispute over copyright fought against Oracle around the Android operating system.
The court decided to unanimously that the use by Google Java development platform, owned by Oracle, to create Android is protected under the fair use clause provided for by copyright law. Oracle asked Google for $ 9 billion compensation.
Oracle said saw many loopholes in the decision to appeal and that will do this. “We strongly believe that Google developed Android to illegally copy the Java core technology to enter the mobile market,” said the defender of Oracle, Dorian Daley, in a statement.
Since Google said in a statement that the decision is “a victory for the Android ecosystem for the Java developer community and software developers who rely on open programming languages and free to create innovative products.”
