The first preview of Android N was launched in early March unexpectedly. The news came to polish the work started with Lollipop in 2014, bringing improvements in Marshmallow, and ending with more content developed based on the guidelines of Material Design. The firmware Android N Developer Preview was released for the Nexus 6P, 5X Nexus, Nexus Player, Nexus 6, Pixels C and Nexus 9. Now we see that the company has just ready a new update, this is the second preview of system improvements and new features.
As expected, the new firmware Android N comes with a mission to fix major bugs the first preview, including constant connectivity loss problem with Wi-Fi networks and also the multi-window system or not always work as it should. In addition, the feature has been enhanced with the inclusion of a new API that allows developers to define which will be the height and width of each window for each app.
A major focus in this update is the integration yet higher with the graphics API Vulkan, which is already present on the Samsung Galaxy Marshmallow in S7 and also the upgrade to Shield Tablet K1 launched by Nvidia earlier today. This API promises to improve gaming performance on Android, providing more direct access to the GPU for developers who can manage memory and multiple threads on their own instead of leaving the responsibility of drivers, giving them more work to do, but also providing greater flexibility.

Another notable addition is the new shortcuts for the launcher. Using a new API, application developers can now display fast action shortcuts to the launcher system. Google says it will show between 3:05 shortcuts to an application on the Home screen. As the hot examples, we can expect instant messaging applications can expose shortcuts to messages with contacts used more frequently, while mapping applications can expose shortcuts to frequent destinations.
The update is being released via OTA for Nexus 6 models, 5X Nexus, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9 and Pixel C. Until the final release expected for the middle of the year we should still other prior being released by the company.
