BlackBerry will launch new Android phones this year – SAPO Tek

In an interview with a newspaper The National, Abu Dhabi, the CEO of BlackBerry assured that the company throughout the year intends to launch two new smartphones with Android.

The plan is not new but disclosure last week of the results of the first quarter of the BlackBerry Priv market left no doubt that it would be to continue.

the very John Chen had already admitted that bet on Android would be the last stand of the Canadian manufacturer in smartphones. In the quarter between October and December last year the brand sold 600,000 units of the model, a number that falls far short of the expectations of the brand itself.

John Chen now recognizes that the performance is not the desired and admits this is a consequence of a less happy brand positioning in terms of price, this first bet on the operating system of Google.

the CEO now believes that if the Priv was cheaper would have achieved better sales results taking into account the comments that was listening and getting customers. “The fact that we have chosen to launch a high-end phone probably was not as smart as it should have sio,” the charge. Chen adds that Priv, on sale for $ 699, was placed in a range “too high”, which led many customers will to try to not finish a purchase.

The next bets on Android should thus take into account the learning that the mark did however. In the same interview the BlackBerry’s CEO when he talks about the comments that the companies received from business users stated that they have told the brand who were waiting for the device with a price around 400 dollars. it is assumed that this is the reference value of the successor BlackBerry Priv that can see in the image below.
