Have you ever imagined can run their Android favorite apps on Windows? It seems that this is Google’s proposal, which is apparently working on a way to run the Play Store application on Windows, which seems to be a natural step, if we consider the company’s job to do it for Chrome OS. How Chrome OS is an operating system designed specifically to run the Chrome browser, make this possible using Chrome on Windows sounds easier than it seemed initially.
The method would allow this would be the Android Runtime for Chrome (ARC), launched about a year ago to allow developers adapt their apps for Chrome OS as simply as possible, with some success. But does not mean that to happen without problems, since, according to Android Central site:
So far, Android Runtime for Chrome (ARC) includes a rudimentary version of the Google services (Play Services) that enables Cloud Messaging, Google authentication, a contact provider and support OATH2, since the developer do some extra steps to set things through the Google developer console. For access to Google Play Store to happen, this restriction should be treated. This could mean that a full version of Google services, or must be built into the Chrome browser, or should be built on a bigger and better version of ARC module. Or even these two things could happen, but it would force Google to build it and distribute it to those who really work.
Unify Android and Chrome OS turned out to be harder than it seemed at first, but later migrating this process to Windows through ARC occur more easily, so using a sandbox in Chrome called Native called (NaCl). Still, Google would still have to officially announce this kind of support, which has not occurred to date. The biggest problem is to scale the apps for a larger screen, since resolution is not enough to be a problem, but adapt it to scale properly on monitors and screen notebooks.
Microsoft and Google fighting for the same problem but in different ways. Google focuses on the mobile platform, with a limitation for migrating apps to the desktop. Already Microsoft through the UWP (Universal Platform Windows – Windows Universal Platform), has programs in Windows and want to open the way for them to run on mobile platform. One does not work with the other, so we’ll have to wait to see which strategy will prove to be the best in the future:. The UWP (Microsoft) or ARC (Google)
We will have more information on the ARC on Google I / O, which will take place in the middle of May this year, what will be the position of Google in relation to the plans of unification Android-Chrome OS, or even about what will happen between Android and Windows. What do you think? I wish I could run Android app on PC? Tell us in the comments!
