Duo: As Apple’s Facetime had come to the Android … – SAPO Tek

Three months after presenting the Duo, its new application for video calls, technological Mountain View started on Tuesday the launch of the app.

Google Duo was revealed last May during the last edition of the I / O, along with a new application messaging, Allo, which should also be about to reach the Play Store.

With this new app Android users spend have a service similar to the Facetime that Apple offers in its gadgets since 2010.

for now, the Duo serves only to make video calls between two devices, whether Android or iOS, and one of the most innovative features is Knock Knock, an option that will let you access the video of your contact even before answering the call.

During the presentation of the app, the company has enhanced the quality of the transmitted video that automatically adapts to resolution of the device and the speed of the internet connection without losing synchronization between sound and image. The US technology also ensures that the calls made in the app will be fully encrypted.

In this segment, the Duo will face tight competition since there are already several other solutions that offer the same type of service as Skype, Viber and WhatsApp that should join this list of applications very soon.

the application can now be downloaded in a few countries but, at the time of closing this article, the Duo has not was available in Portugal.

The app is free and will get to Portugal for Android and iOS.
