Android 5.0 Lollipop brings tons of improvements to the Android operating system. Increased security, introduction of new features, bug fixes and overall polishing of the operating system for a completely redesigned user interface with the Material Design , which brings a layered approach to the animations. Basically everything that you touch on the screen will move and turn something else, each animation will go somewhere, in other words, you will see elements on the screen moving around.
As you probably already know , Google is bringing support for RAW image files at the operating system level with the Android 5.0 Lollipop. This feature can really improve the images on all devices running the new version. But, What are RAW image files? Well, they are basically a dump of the entire capture image data from the camera sensor. No loss of information when converting into smaller JPEG files. With the reduction in size of the image file captured many details end up being euthanized. The Lollipop Android allows you have the original file, without loss . Of course, this will make the internal memory of your device runs faster, since a file in RAW format can be up to 5 times greater that even in JPEG format.
PkmX is a developer who has launched an application called L Camera , which is an app experimental camera that is designed to save images in the format of Adobe DNG , says Forbes . This is a very popular format for RAW images you can edit everything you want through third-party applications. The developer used a Nexus 5 running Android 5.0 developer preview, in order to record these images and compare them with the original results of the camera model. These DNG files were manually converted into JPEG files through an editing application called RawTherapee , and you can check the results in the gallery.
Paul Monckton , the tester, was intrigued and did a comparison of your own DSLR with the Nexus using the L 5 Camera app and the pictures that were taken in DNG format were manually converted into JPEGs via Photoshop Lightroom . You can check out the images above. The first follows the JPEG standard, while the other is manually converted RAW version.
He concluded that the Nexus 5 camera with access to RAW files really shows the potential that it has, and that was not in use due to limitations of JPEG . On the other hand, he was impressed with the difference in some images. In any case, this option is definitely interesting. And best of all, will be available for any smartphone to receive the upgrade to Lollipop.
