1 – General Features
The bq Aquaris A4.5 is the result of a partnership between the company Spanish bq and Google. There are roughly one year Google showed the world a new project, Android One, which aimed to give a continuous and appropriate support to equipment more affordable, which are usually forgotten by brands (often soon after its launch).
To address the Portuguese and Spanish markets, bq was the brand chosen by Google and the Aquaris A4.5 was presented in mid-September. A smartphone with 5-year guarantee, offering three months subscription of Google Play Music service and the certainty update to the latest version of Android Marshmallow
The bq Aquaris A4.5 has, as the name implies, a 4.5 “screen. It comes equipped with a MediaTek MT6735M Quad Core Cortex A53 processor to 1 GHz and has a GPU ARM Mali T720-MP1 up to 450 MHz. This smartphone is available with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD.
One of the features that highlights the bq Aquaris A4.5 is your front camera of 5 megapíxies (MP) equipped with a LED flash, allowing the capture of selfies with a very good quality, characteristics which by the way had already been included in bq Aquaris M. In addition to the front camera, the Aquaris M5 also has a rear camera of 8 MP that allows video capture in FullHD (720p).

2 – Design
terms of design, who knows the brand smartphones will notice that there are no differences between this Aquaris A4.5 and for example the range Aquaris M, as analyzed here.
The structure is made of plastic, with high scratch resistance and do not get large sweat marks with use. Dimensions not the most accomplished since for a 4.5-inch screen have a structure with 63.48 x 131.77 x 8.75 mm. In terms of weight, taking into account the size this is a lightweight smartphone with only 115g.
Although the dimensions are not the best, the truth is that in terms of design , in general, we have a smartphone and quality finishes.
In front, beyond 4.5-inch screen, is the front flash the notification LED, the camera of 5 MP, speaker and light sensors and proximity, above the screen. Below is only a large part of the frame not absolutely nothing. They are almost 2cm smartphone that you can not enjoy. As this space has no common capacitive buttons, the common Android buttons moved to the screen.
On the side, bottom, is placed the microUSB port between a grid, where the left is the microphone and the right speaker. On the right side is a slot for the microSD card and the Power and Volume buttons. On the left side are placed slots for two microSIM cards. On top is the jack 3.5 mm audio and a second microphone.
In back on top is the camera of 8 MP and the double flash LED. The bq brand is registered in the middle of the back cover (not removable) and down the mention of Android One.
3 – Interface, applications and features
The bq Aquaris M5 comes with version 5.1.1 of Android and not bring any change from the Android Pure. Indeed, this is another of the characteristics of the project Android One.
As such, it comes with Google applications set highlighting to Google Play Music, which offer 90 days of free and unlimited music.
In terms of other applications there is nothing that the real highlight. It has a download manager, Dolby audio manager, a sound recorder and FM radio.
One of the interesting features of Android Lollipop is the sound management and profiles by tapping the volume button , comes the pop-up volume indicator where you can select from not receive any notification (until further notice or for a fixed period), receive only priority notifications (at the same time conditions, but defining which applications or contacts that can be notifications received).
quality Aquaris A4.5 bq screen is good, despite the resolution, the contents appear fairly well defined. The brightness and saturation are very positive factors in the smartphone , where the colors are vivid and very real.
The performance of the Aquaris A4.5 1GB of RAM is consistent with the specifications of the smartphone and the range where it operates. By AnTuTu benchmark was achieved a score of 20380. Not being extraordinary, is the common value achieved by this type of equipment. Please note that during the days of intensive analysis were not detected any significant blockages or gaps between exchange applications that were not expectable. In the browser navigation experience some sluggishness behaved quite well and was only noticed in downloading applications.
4 – cameras
As the full range Aquaris M launched by bq recently, Aquaris A4.5 comes with integrated LED flash next to front camera, a trend that is occurring in increasingly smartphones. The front camera has 5 MP and the rear, which comes with dual LED flash has 8 MP.
With the rearview camera are achieved good photos in different environments, which can take advantage even of different capture modes available. This camera can shoot in normal mode, 720p, in slow motion and laps time and still shooting in panorama mode. It also allows capture photos in panoramic and spherical way.
The front camera can satisfactory results in different environments and in the dark, the flash really behind a new life to the selfies . In the following examples was an object photographed in an environment with good light and in an environment with bad conditions for shooting with and without flash. Note that taking photos with real faces through this front camera, which easily fit the various components of a picture, get even better results.

5 – Verdict
During the time of analysis, the bq Aquaris A4.5 turned out to be a good surprise in terms of performance. It is true that only has a 1GB of RAM, but none required task remained unfulfilled or was executed poorly.
Note that the battery of Aquaris A4.5 has a capacity of 2470 mAh ensures that you easily autonomy for 2 days common use. Though it’s more intensive testing, running games and watching videos was achieved over a full day of use.
Although, in terms of optimization of the construction of the new Aquaris, their prize materials by quality and strength. The same applies to the screen, which provides excellent quality content viewing. The existence of an Android One model with 5-inch screen could be seen very positively but unfortunately for now, there is no indication that this might happen.
The flash front camera, although hardly have been necessary to use it, since the camera can satisfactory results even in environments with low light, the truth is that it can improve quite a selfie .
In addition to the 90 days of free and unlimited music through Google Play Music, the Aquaris A4.5 also has assured upgrade to the new version of Android Marshmallow and 5 year warranty.
