As much as not try to enhance the design of, for example, issues such as performance and fluidity, the truth is that the operating system aspect is one of its main features. Not only because it is the element that connects the user to the gadget through the user interface, but also turns out to condition the general relationship of the software with the hardware.
The versions Jelly Bean and Android KitKat – 4.1 and 4.4 respectively – but they had significant differences in content, have not changed much in terms of design. Have Lollipop Android, version 5.0, is a notable upswing in the way the software behaves.
The Google chose what it calls Material Design, a style that is based on opaque elements of bright colors and have a floating effect. And the Android Lollipop is full of Material Design.
However, some applications may not yet have accompanied these lines – and we can see why, since the Android Lollipop is just a tiny fraction of devices equipped with the operating system from Google. This makes the overall look of smartphone with Android 5.0 is a mix of modernism with “antique”.
But the Material Design has two major advantages: it helped to accentuate the differences between Android 5.0 and Android 4.4; and allows users to access the “feeling” of the new operating system without having and just across applications.
The suggestions the TeK chosen and that can be found in the various gallery pages assume this double function: if you already have Android Lollipop, achieve greater continuity to the design level; if still with a previous version of the operating system, then you can stay with a “taste” of what is the modern Android.
Finally gets a “message” to Google. It would help a lot if the technology have a tab in Google Play where they could find which applications already provide access to this new design line.
The need exists and there have been those who had taken advantage of – just the application Material Design Apps. But this is a guideline that besides being given by third parties should be ensured by the Google.
For if the technology already has a fragmentation problem that should not be easy to manage by the programmers, the message of “little attention” passing also certainly not help the faster this development.
And this is bad because Google’s Design Stuff is an excellent bet the company and a breath of fresh air on the Android operating system, long overdue.
