Sony releases Android 5.1 AOSP binaries for the Xperia line – Tudocelular.com

Recently, Sony announced that only the Xperia Z receive update for Lollipop. After outrage from consumers, the company backed down and revealed that he would be reviewing the upgrade policy, but did not confirm which models would be presented with the news. In this cloud of uncertainty, the Japanese giant has just catching everyone by surprise today when launching Lollipop binaries for most of its models. The most interesting is that we are not talking about Android 5.0 , but the latest version 5.1 , which have not reached the Nexus line.

But what does it mean? Sony has a good relationship with the parallel development community of Android. The project called FreeXperia allows users to experience the Android AOSP on their smartphones. With the launch of these new binaries owners of Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Compact Tablet Z3, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z, ZQ, E3, M2, Ultra T2, T3, L and S may get the attention of developers and custom ROMs count and to the almost pure Android on their smartphones.

This does not mean that you can run after the code and urge him right now on your smartphone . They are only the files needed, mainly drivers and dependencies to the development of complete ROMs. The news may not be as interesting for the average user who does not search for customized systems, but it is undeniable think that Sony released the binaries for other models besides the Z line, it means that such models can really count on Lollipop ever .

The Xperia Z3 be the first to receive the update directly from Sony, but still coming with the 5.0.2 version of the system. With this 5.1 release code, the Japanese company may soon launch an update to the most stable version of Android. Who want to check the news, just visit the Android development page from Sony. There are also 5.0 binary codes available and even the KitKat .
