The Motorola recently reported that works on Android 5.1 update for the Moto X 2014. This gesture is a bit more complex than for the camera and takes a while to get the hang of, but the novelty is very interesting for those who need to use the phone’s flash as a flashlight without having to unlock the phone and find the resource in the system.
When you install Android 5.1 for the first time and activate the flashlight shortcut in notification panel, you will see the image above teaching how to use the new feature. If it does not appear, you can also activate it by going to the Moto Shares Motorola setup application. If you do not like novelty or end up driving the flashlight constantly accident, just disable the feature in the company app.
The Pure Edition is sold to developers in the US and has unlockable bootloader. Thus, it is normal that Motorola always updates initially bid for this variant.
