Android still dominates more than half of the US market – Pplware

The struggle for dominance in the mobile device market between Apple, with iOS, and Google, with Android, is a constant. Even though this two companies did not show openly, this rivalry exists and is the engine for many of the new developments that often arise.

The numbers are the strongest evidence exists to show that this domain and a study now presented show that in the US market Android keep the lead, with more than half of the devices in use.

This new study, done by ComScore company, covered the last quarter of 2014 and clearly shows that Android is the operating system with greater predominance in North American market.

In the period referred to in the study presented the Android can have an expression which shows that more than 50% of the market on your own. Specifically are 52.3%, representing an increase of almost 1% compared to the figures for the previous quarter.

Second is Apple, which can for the same period 41.3% share market, representing a slight decrease of 0.6%.

The third is saved for the eternal competitor of these systems, Microsoft with Windows Phone. The 3.6% share that has represented an increase of only 0.1% over the previous period.

But the ComScore study did not just look at the numbers of operating systems and also included manufacturers. In this area the numbers show a different picture, with Apple to be the manufacturer with the most equipment.

For the period covered by Apple maintain the first place on the list with 41.3%, and also a slight decrease of 0.6%, similar to the iOS also has.

The following places in this table are all occupied by Android manufacturers, with Samsung being the most well positioned with 29.3 % without any sway over the same period.

Then we have the LG, Motorola and HTC with, respectively, 8%, 5.2% and 3.8%.

One last aspect of this study focused on the applications most used by these systems, with Facebook dominating by far the list.

The application of the most used social network Internet is present in 69.7%, followed by YouTube (54.5%), Google Play (51.8%) and the Google Search (51.5%).

These figures show that although Android still dominate majority and be the operating system most used, is Apple who has more equipment in use.

These figures are explained by the existence of many manufacturers to develop their devices on the Google platform, while Apple is the only one to be focused on iOS.

There are very different numbers with those found in Europe and all over the world . Being a more open and accessible system to any manufacturer and where there is a very wide range of offers, it is normal and natural that the figures relate to Android and that this is the most obvious choice for consumers
