Jolla wants to release Sailfish OS to Android devices - Online Info

Jolla startup created by former Nokia employees disappointed by the MeeGo project has been terminated, this week launched its first smartphone running the operating system Sailfish OS.

Now the company says it has ambitious plans for the smartphone market and aims to provide the Sailfish OS operating system for installation on Android devices, in an attempt to expand the reach of the platform beyond the hardware manufacturer.

In an interview to a Finnish website, Tomi Pienimäki, CEO of La Jolla, said the company is “a business devices and software business. And it’s really easy to install our system on Android devices, “he said.

The CEO said the company is also aware that the Android ROM community wants to help spread the platform. “Half of smartphone buyers in China are upgrading their older devices with better versions of Android. We believe that the community will help us thrive on Android devices. ”

Jolla also know that this way will not raise money with the distribution system, but at the same time need to add value to the software. For the CEO, applications, services and advertisements should be the flagship in this regard.

However, Tomi gave no details of when the company plans to release a Sailfish way to install OS on Android devices.
